Agency: BLM Region District: BUTTE Ranger District: Forest Service Tract: Watershed Code: 10020002 Forest or Resource Area: DILLON Owner: P Impact: U Report: Durham Bull BE000677 This mine was never located although as recently as 1972 Geach visited it and described the workings in his bulletin. It was described as being in SEĽ of section 25; the entire ridge east of the Pinkerton Homestead was walked but no sign of any adits were found. The sketch in Geach, 1972 shows the adit driven to the south/southwest and so presumably it should be on the northeast side of the ridge, but none could be found. The general topography here is dry and remote and so no hazards would be expected. Schutz, 1986 shows the claim in the SW1/4 section 23, T6N, R12W which is probably the correct location. Workings would be either on private or BLM land. Historically the mine consisted of two adits; one of which was 150' long. There is no record of production; a selected sample by Geach (1972) ran 0.38 opt Au, 1.55 opt Ag, 2.28% Cu and 0.30% Zn. |
